Type 97 Carry handle mounts for AR's? Clobb? :D

I wanted to ask former Type-97 owners or current RS 97 owners whether AR carry handle mounts can be used with these rifles. There are plenty of carry handle mounts that still allow for using the irons for the AR platform, so I wanted to check if they'd work with hypothetical 97's as well Thanks in advance for your thoughts guys

No.

The Type 97 "carry" handle is just a plastic housing that surrounds the optic base tower and the upper receiver and barrel. It's a proprietary mounting system that I've never seen before or since. It's not really meant to carry the rifle with, it's there to cover the charging handle.

Here's a pic of the top of the tower with the plastic housing around it.

As you can see it is nothing like the aluminum carry handle of the AR15. Not even close.

Thanks for the info. For some reason it completely went past me that you actually had something in the works or at least on paper. Still keeping my fingers crossed, but if it doesn't get an FRT by the end of the month, chances are I'll be going restricted
