Type 97 gen2, just got it! A few questions..

So I finally got my type 97 today and I'm pretty pumped! Haven't #### it yet. A few questions for those who own them.
1. Why do none of my lar mags fit in, like not at all I have to like reef them out? Only one that fits well is factory and slander.
2. How do you switch the charging handle? Doesn't say in manual.
3.manual says to take off rail, to field strip.. do you need to go to that level everytime to clean, or like every 4-500 rounds?
4. What gas setting should it be on? No info in manual for that either. I'll be shooting mostly 62gr stuff out of it if that matters.

1. Get a nice small mill file and chamfer the edges of your magwell. Try to open up the sides of the spine slot a wee bit as well.
2. Take off the rail. You'll then see the screw with which to flip over the handle.
3. No other need to take off the rail. The gas system is accessible for cleaning with it in place.
4. Default position is 1. Only use 2 if you want to use your ejection port as a deck nailer.

You don't have to actually file down your mag well.
Put the spine of the magazine in a vise and very gently and very gradually squeeze that spine skinnier while intermittently checking fitment. Also, Gen 3 P mags should work nicely and smoothly, but are not drop free.

Good idea, but I'm deathly afraid of breaking the spot welds. Rewelding mags are only good for skilled TIG artists.
I'd much rather find the best fitting mag, then stick to that brand only for that rifle.

Fair enough. I deemed the risk of damaging a $20 mag less than trying to take a file to my rifle (as I already had the mag), but everyone has their preferences. Let me know when you find some good mags you can recommend for it!
 
My elander mag drops free and goes in like gravy. I don't mind trying to squish the lar mags a bit, I definitely want working lar mags for it... Other than that I might get a few more elanders or p mags if I can find em.
I heard somewhere there was some 10/20 lar pistol mags around, anyone know where or are they history?
