Hey guys I just picked up a brand new Type 97 NSR. I'm having the very same problem these guys in this video have:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=by0jAHLrOlU

The rifle is accurate and the action and bolt move very smoothly, with no hiccups or catch points. It feeds great when the action is worked by hand, but the gas piston doesn't move. I've taken the rifle apart and nothing stands out as being the problem. I can't seem to find any descriptions on how to adjust the gas system.

If anyone knows a good gun smith who knows about these sorts of guns, please let me know.

Did you try changing the gas setting?

If you look at the gas block, there are 3 settings... 1 on the right, 0 in the middle & 2 on the left... (looking down at the gas block with the rifle held horizontally...)

Sounds like your gas setting is in the middle, 0... NO gas...

Check your gun & let us know.

Cheers
Jay

Lol.. First time I took it to the range, same problem.. Not sure how I noticed the selector as the ports aren't all that well lit. Then, shooting my first match with it, same story (just left it on 0 after cleaning it out and lubing it for the match) but at least I realized the problem immediately and changed it before the 2nd string. Cost me a lot of easy points, though
