Sorry, didn't mean to say I've heard anything bad about the Type 97, just the fact that they're chinese. Don't get me wrong, I own a couple of norinco's but i try and stay away from them. I was just talking to a guy from this board last night, and he said that the type 97's don't even look chinese, and that they are very well made.
Have to agree with you on that.
Had my hands on all the 97's days after they arrived @ Lever Arms and was handling them all for nearly an hour.
WOW is all I gotta say. I love the gun. I have to say I found it extremely balanced, in both short and long barrel, about as balanced as Ken from Hunters Tavor I handled.
No stickyness/burrs in the action or rails the the bolt slides on, all operated very very well.
Having used Mini-14's since I was a kid, hell I got nothing but praise for them, provided you USE the gun for its intended use.
It's a ranch gun meant for blasting coyotes that are trying to eat your chickens! That's all it is so everyone who complains about accuracy, F OFF.
Same for the Mini-30, .223, 6.8 or 7.62x39, it's a farm gun, not a target rifle, buy the target model if you wanna go on bout accuracy.
Now for some comparison, the Mini's I've used all eject out the top to the right an forward 2-4 feet, how is the ejection on the 97A?
I'm a lefty so I need to know how the spent brass ejects. Anyone have any left hand input on the 97?
