Hey folks I’ve been looking to get my hands on a type 99 since many years and found one original with all the markings etc for 5000$
What’s the value of these nowadays?

All matching type 99 are the norm.
They are very easy to find in USA. I had one imported from there and with all the fees, TX shipping it cost me 1300can...

Yes Arisaka prices here in Canada are a “bit high” to say the least. I’ve had a Type 99 and two Type 38s over the years.

Import from the states for sure

There are a lot of Arisakas around, but they fire an uncommon cartridge so they get pushed to the back of collector's cabinets.

Arisakas do have a following. I met a collector from Utah who carried a small paper in his wallet. It was high and low serial numbers per model per arsenal per year. He had a lot of guns listed!

Arisaka’s are a bit tricky to price in Canada, but they do tend to be more expensive up here than in the US. However, $5k is absolutely insane. Personally, if I was looking for a nice matching and unmessed with Type 99 or Type 38 I’d be looking to pay around $2k… and if I found one for less than great. If I’m willing to accept some issues then you can definitely find them cheaper.

And as others have said, in the states you can still find them pretty cheap, but that is changing. Arisaka’s and Japanese stuff in general has seen a big jump in interest over the last while and prices are going up. It still seems like Arisaka’s can be found for really cheap, but thats mostly by guys hunting at estate sales/local shows/pawn shops etc. Being Canadian, and thus an online shopper in America, finding a really cheap Arisaka thats matching and with mum is definitely much more difficult than it used to be.
