Type97

It's a copy based off the QBZ but chambered in 5.56 and semi auto.

The QBZ is a 5.8 x 42 assault rifle.

Theres a difference between a "copy" and a "variation". The T97 is a variation... not a copy. As is the NR Tavor VS its full military counterpart.

The Norinco NP22 is a COPY of a Sig and they make other guns that are COPIES of something else. But the T97 is their design that has been altered for the canadian market. But it is not a copy.

Ok, so incorrect choice of words on my part. But yeah, that pretty much what I thought. It's a variation and not a copy like the m305 and all the other copies norinco makes. Thanks dude.

The T97NSR is based off the QBZ 97A, It is used by the Genghis Security Services PMC's among others.

QBZ-97A (5.56 mm Assault Rifle)[edit]

This variant is a QBZ-97 with the addition of a 3-round burst mode and a bolt hold-open device; it also differs from the QBZ-95 and the QBZ-97 for the shape of its grip, now missing the "front grip" part in front of the trigger guard. This weapon is the only QBZ-95 variant to have seen commercial success and military use outside of China; QBZ-97A rifles are in use by 911 Special Forces of Cambodia Special Operations personnel.[2][15
