types of ammo

my be a dumb question.

i have a norinco 870, been firing 00 buck. i no enough about shotgun ammo regarding 23/4", 3" ect. what i'm wondering is what type of ammo like slugs or heavy loads ect can i fire or what i should stay away from.

Should be safe with any factory load that fits the chamber.

Actual preformance may vary.

I would think anything factory loaded that fits in the chamber would be useable, as mentioned above.

so rifled slugs can be shot threw a smooth bore? or is there a smooth slug? might sound stupid but i've only shot regular type oo buck ect. wouldn't mind seeing what i might be able to do with slugs.
what kind of approx range do you get with a slug? also how accurate a group? thanks fella's.

Smooth bore means you have to use a rifled slug. The "smooth" slugs you speak of are usually saboted rounds that would require a rifled barrel for proper stabilization.
