Hi experts I need you again. I'm not really keen at all of the Mauser 98K rifles so I hope you can enlighten me. Can you fellows please list or add to mine, the different types of Mauser 98Ks? The ones that are similar if not identical to the WWII-era 98Ks used by Germany. And after doing that, can you list them for me from most expensive to least? Thank you, it will contribute to my decision of purchasing my first 98K, thanks! I only heard of the follwing, please correct or add, thanks:

Russian Capture Mauser 98K
Yugo Mauser 98K
Chinese Mauser 98K
German Mauser 98K
Czech Mauser 98K

Are there more? Also can you tell me the estimated price range of each, thank you! :runaway:

Thank you Joe, Coyote and Skippy, so there are the following Mauser 98Ks. I'm now hoping if you can please tell me the estimated prices of these? I think the RC Mausers are (correct me if I'm wrong) around $350-$450, and a friend of mine got a few Chinese Mausers for less than $200. How about the rest? Thanks guys! :)

Russian Capture Mauser 98K
Yugo Mauser 98K
Chinese Mauser 98K
German Mauser 98K
Czech Mauser 98KPortuguese Mauser K98
East German K98 postwar rework
West German K98 postwar rework
Norwegian Rework K98
French rework K98
Swede converted K98

Most of the Chinese ones are closer to being model 1924 short rifles than K98k rifles. Lots of variations in the Chinese rifles, some European made, many made in various arsenals in China. Lots of interesting markings. Mukden Arsenal was a major producer. One variation has an Arisaka type firing pin assembly.
Most sold pretty cheap, unappreciated, and often pretty rough. Really used.
The Soviets supplied captured rifles to the Chinese during the Korean War.

Mauser Questions

You should invest in some books especially the Fourth Edition, by Robert W. D. Ball "Mauser Military Rifles of the World".

It's good value for the money. Printed by Gun Digest Books
The ISBN numbers always confuse me, and there are two in my book
ISBN 13: 978-0-89689-296-5
ISBN 10: 0-89689-296-4
I always check abebooks for deals on books. Just take out the space between the w w's.

Definietly invest in the book by Ball if you want to know about Mausers. I have a chinese 98K, and it sure has a lot of interesting markings. The quality ranged from as good as FN or Mauser production to downright junk and everything in between.

Do you mean ONLY K98's, or do you mean all guns that were built on the Mauser 98 action? That list is HUGE - literally thousands of models of military Mausers, all slightly different. You need Ball's book IMHO. Get the 4th edition - it's really worth the small cost.

Hi Claven, thanks for the recommendation. I'm only refering to the K98s, because yea Mauser did have a large influence on firearms haha.
