Okay. I'm sitting in the parking lot at my range. Just finished shooting 25 slugs with the Typhoon. I believe NAS Guns said a recommended break-in of 75-80 rounds, so take my perspective as you will.

My slugs were a mix of Imperial, Federal, Remington, and Winchester. All were 2 3/4 inch.

Recoil: nothing really different than any other semi with a heavy load. I'm 6'2" and I float around 250 pounds. Who am I kidding? I don't float.

The 2-round mag worked flawlessly. The 5-rounders did not. They worked flawlessly with 3 shells in them, max. With 5 rounds, they will not even chamber a round. With 4, I had two failures to completely eject a spent shell. Twice I had click and no bang. I re-used these 2 shells (after waiting several minutes before ejecting, of course), and they both fired. When I fed the mags with 3 rounds, they fired smoothly.

With the bolt forward, and the safety engaged, you can't load a mag and #### the bolt. I tried this twice to be sure. From open-bolt, you can load a mag, hit the assist, and chamber a round.

The next step will be to try light loads. I'm guessing the 5-round mags, being new, are just too tight. I may store them loaded for a while to see if this helps.

I checked the barrel nut that I loctited and it did not jar loose whatsoever. That metal sleeve labelled "Heavy Loads" with the arrow pointing down the business end slides back and forth when the gun is empty. I don't know if where it's supposed to sit, as I only noticed this while packing the gun up to go home. Mine is shooting quite low - maybe two inches at 25 yards, but I never adjusted the sights at all. That will come in time. I did not use the included bipod; I have my own installed.

Extended use of the gun will see if things get smoother. As I said, it cycles fine with 3 rounds or less. The 2 failures to fire both were with the Remington slugs, which I noticed said "reduced recoil" on the box. They were also around 1/16" shorter than the others, so I'm not sure if this was the case.

My two cents, anyways. I'll clean it when I get home and see how it looks.

Thanks for the report. There are videos of these things mowing through 100 rounds in rapid succession, so hopefully it smooths out quickly!!!!! Wish they arrived back on Easter so I could have it broken in before the 3 gun season, but o well...

Look forward to updates!

I believe NAS posted that a Typhoon rep will post here at some point. I'd like to hear their suggestions with regards to the mag issues. I'd also like to hear if other owners are having the same challenge with the mags. Its hard to put the gun through its paces if it isn't feeding, and I don't think the problem is with the gun.

Strange though, because the YouTube vids show them ripping through without issue. Wonder if the Turkish ones are 10s and the 5s are just a Canadian thing... Another site sponsor had some LAR pistol mags made in Europe (maybe Czech or Polish manufacture) and they were TIGHT. Tons of FTFs if loaded to 10. Had to cut a coil off the spring, but then they didn't feed right either.

Here's hoping!

I get in the habit of loading on an open bolt and I don't +1. This is a reason for many semi auto jams, and gouging / shaving brass. I'm assuming these mags were modified for our legal limits, and it's too much tension on a closed bolt. Since this was on a shotgun, can you tell us if it was high or low brass?

I'm sorry I don't know if what you mean by high or low brass. My apologies - are you referring to the nature of the jam/feed issue?

Ah ok - my mix was about half and half. Didn't make a difference with regards to the mag issues. The Remington stuff I bought while I was there was low-brass. My first jam was with 5 of the Remington low brass - when I pulled the cocking handle back it was as if the mag tried shoving as many shells upward as it could. I can confirm this was from closed-bolt. I pulled the handle back, dumped out the first shell, and of course the second one was buggered from the previous attempt. Cleared it, and round number three chambered and fired fine, cycling four and five. Same thing happened with the other mag, which had some high and low brass. First round I know was high, because I only had five of them, and they were Imperials, and my only shells that were purple.

I'll just as my comments
I just set the laxtc4 days shooting 3x of these shotguns
The maxi in burnt bronze the bla k and the blue.
The black we took right out of the box no cleaning or lube.
As stated 2rd work perfect even with 1 on the chamber.

Both 5rd no issue ar all on the black gun
At z out 250 rds it started same g and having fte issues.
We stripped it atcthe range and the pa king grease and old was baked on to the gas system.
Got it all cleaned and ran no problem. Finished off the day at around 700 rds
As the same time we were running the maXie in bronze. Stopped and cleaned it to start
2rd no problem 5rds were a little tight.
Shot about 400 rds that day mostly #4 ans 00 buck.
Had about 3rd that ftf and 1 fte.
I think it's the mags are a little bit tight on the tenting of the spring .
Took a day off and then shot the bronze again.
No running on the trap loads. But neither done my benelli m4 or m2. Or my stoager m3500 and I have 1000,s or rounds out of those.
Total shot out of the bronze f12 about 1000rds ans cleaned 3 times
Going out again tomorrow to shoot more and more testing

You have to love "auto complete"

Just got back from the range: mine is a Standard Typhoon F12. Ran like a champ using 4 different types of ammo including standard Challenger Target Loads. About 200 rounds fired and only a few FTEs from one magazine in particular (seems a little heavy on the springs). The other five 5 rounders fed perfectly fine. Two of the six mags won't quite drop free... They seem just a little out of spec as the finish is getting just a little shiny on the spine only after only a few uses. I think a little sandpaper will fix them.

Overall I am VERY happy with mine!

Appreciated the opportunity to run a few rounds through that beast today with you. I'm by no means an expert on these but with 26 years experience as a machinist I can assess fit / finish and materials / manufacturing. I'd definitely put one of these on my bucket list.

Got to handle Phat Eagle's Typhoon today. It really is a nice feeling shotgun. Handles very much like an AR with similar weight. Nice trigger pull but weird feeling reset! For what you get, it's a very reasonably priced package. Not sure why a shotgun would need a bipod foregrip but whatever. Still cool!
Hope Cannon's gun issues gets resolved.
