It looks like the budget will only allow for one of the above matches this year. The U.S IPS Nationals will be on the same 30 stages as the World Shoot which is pretty cool.

If it was your dollar, which one would you do? FYI.. travel costs are about the same for either one.

US IPSC nationals.

If the cost will be the same, I'd rather go shoot 30 stages of the world shoot and compare myself to the world's best.
Compare your hit factors per stage and see where you would have placed.

Plus you get a week or so in Florida.
Family can go to Disney etc.

depends, do you want to try and improve your rankings for a future world shoot, if so then Canadians, plus you get to come shoot in BC, so much nicer than Florida. But if you really want to see how you do against the Worlds best, then yeah, US.

I don't think qualification for next World Shoot should be an issue. The only reason this coming World Shoot is well subscribed is that it's in the US. I can't see the next World Shoot being some place that is so high in demand that you need to qualify to get a slot; it'll probably be whoever wants to go, can go.

US IPSC NATS.
You cant even compare to Canadian Nationals. Way better range with more stages and very affordable.

Weather should be comparable; probably a few degrees higher in Orlando (October) vs BC (July/August). Not sure what the humidity is like in Florida at that time of year, but I don't think it's too bad.

If i do either, l'm going try for Florida. Can't speak to the range in BC but have shot the one in Florida.

If the costs and 'hassles' are about same, I'd pick US Nats. just cause it'll be first rate match (not saying Can Nats are not first rate) and chances to go to US for Nats in near future are slim. This is a great chance to see and meet the best shooters too.
One border to cross only, no visas required, no lang barrier, not much for jet lag, etc.

How much ammo are we allowed to take to plane to Florida?

Depends on the airline - check their website for details.

For U.S. matches there is typically NO requirement to work for x number of days, other than the normal patching/setting steel required of your squad on each stage.

I cannot see how the costs are the same unless you know family in the Vancouver area.

Cheaper to fly to Orlando. Cheaper to stay, rent and eat. Entertainment is up to you.

I will say Vancouver in the end. The match will be better. (yup!) Outside of the mega ride complex's an hour away from the hotel your going to stay at that is already an hour from the range there is no entertainment near Frostproof.

Most airlines limit it to 11lb which is about 500rds of 9mm ammo
If you actually weigh the ammo you will find 11 lb is only about 300 125grain ammo
You need about 500 rounds to do a 450 rnd match if you have no reshoots or practice or sight in. better plan on shipping.
