Hi guys, a question maybe someone knows the answer to, it's kind of off topic but my permission to the off topic forum has not come through yet. Does anyone know:
If you buy something from the states (just regular merchandise, not guns or anything like that), and it is shipped by U.S. Postal Service International, who delivers it in Canada? In other words, is my parcel now stuck with on strike Canada post, or would it be delivered by a courier?
Thanks for the help

your more than likely sol until canada post is back to work .........

i ordered a pair of boots out of the states about 10 days ago , shipped by usps ...... my guess is it will just sit at the border until things get up and running again .

If you are near the U.S. border, have it shipped to the UPS Store. It's faster and more secure. The last item I got mailed from Alabama showed up at my door as an empty package with a letter of apology from Canada Post for being damaged. You could plainly see where it was cut open with a knife. Because it had cleared Canada customs, it had the green sticker with contents and value listed on the outside of the package. Only the shipper can file a claim.

I ordered a propane water heater for a remote cabin and it was shipped to Canada via UPS and into our Canada Postal service. With the strike being on looks like you might have issues. Hope for the best.

Everytime I have something shipped from USPS it gets transferred to Canada post for delivery. No courier, sorry. I have 3 or 4 packages stuck in the cluster fvck myself.

Canada Post delivers USPS items... If you had something shipped it will get as far in the supply chain as there is space and it will stop.. That may be on the US or Canadian Side.. I suspect that most Canadian import queues at the postal stations are full to overflowing so the vans will be being parked over the border in the US somewhere..

GEMS comes CP as well.. the difference is that the brokerage can be done by a 3rd party..

That's what I'm thinking....confirmation anyone?

Yep, USPS is not accepting packages sent to Canada. I ordered an item off of eBay this week and got an email saying my order was cancelled because of USPS not accepting anything shipping to Canada because of the CP strike. Email said to reorder when the strike is over.

The only USPS packages that may arrive are ones shipped via Global Express Guaranteed, I believe they are handled by Purolator.
Everything else sits with CP.

X2. I bought an item off of ebay. i told the guy to go ahead and mail it to me, and would wait for the lock-out to be over for it to complete it's transit. Evidently, when he tried to mail it they told him they wouldn't accept parcel post for Canada because of the lock-out, but there was another option (he didn't elaborate) but it would cost him over $60 to ship, instead of the previously quoted $20.
