I am thinking of buying an Uberti 1873 Revolver Carbine in .44/40 calibre.

They also come in .45 Colt & .357 Mag.

Does anyone on the board own one?

The carbine as advertised has a 18" barrel and a conventional stock & butt.

The carbine has a revolver action (single action).

Is this firearm non-restricted or restricted??

It would be nice if Uberti made the Revolver Carbine in .44 Rem. Mag. or .454 Casull to make it an adequate deer rifle.

That is one of the main reasons why revolving rifles have never been popular. Rear sight location is another.

The calibers offered do make it an "adequate deer rifle". If you ask around there have been plenty of deer taken with 44/40, 45 Colt, and 357 Magnums.

:DI could work with hand loads for the .45 Long Colt because of the case capacity advantage over the .44/40 or the .357 Mag..

After all the .454 Casull is just a "magnumized" .45 Long Colt.

Has anybody developed any +P hand loads for the Uberti Revolving carbine in .45 Long Colt?

I've hand loaded robust .45 Long Colt loads for modern revolvers (Smitty's & Rugers) & maybe I'll try some of them.

Is the Uberti action a fairly strong action?
