anyone have any opinions on this rifle, and where it can be found. i believe it is available in 45-60 or 45-75. which caliber would be the better choice? also, does uberti make good stuff? wouldn't mind getting an 1873 either in 44-40.

That would be an 1876 rifle. I've heard the quality is good. I tried an Uberti 1873 rifle about 20 years ago, and the fit and finish was very good, as was accuracy. Same with an 1858 Remington-style revolver I owned.
I know Wholesale Sports sells some Uberti stuff, and I think Ellwood Epps does as well.
I think Gunblast may have reviewed this rifle; I know they reviewed a repro '76 Winchester from someone....

.45-75 ammo is nearly impossible to get and brass is very expensive. Shooter's Choice carries Bertram brass at $79.95 per 20.
.45-60 brass you'll be making from .45-70 brass.
Uberti is not listing an 1875 rifle on their site. However, Epp's is listing an 1876, in .50 Express, for $1925.
Shooter's Choice wants $1295 and up for a Uberti 1873 in .44-40. It's not terribly easy to get either. And it has a reputation of being a pain to reload.
