Uberti 73 Carbine 22 LR lever gun

Has anyone ever encountered this 22 LR rifle made by UBERTI from 1976 till around 1991 - 1992?
The guns were imported by Canadian Arms Corp. Prince George, BC Canada, which no longer exists today.
I think this is a much superior rifle to the 22 LR Silverboy, which is still manufactured by Uberti today.
The 1873 rifle comes with a 19" heavy barrel, ladder rear sight, trap-door steel butt-plate ( for tools storage ) and even has a saddle ring.
If you know anything about Canadian Arm Corp. of Prince George, BC - I am very curious as to the company and its history.

Uberti made both the Win 73 and the 1866 in 22lr and still make the 66 in 22mag and 22lr in carbine and rifle .I have the 66 carbine in 22lr.Parts for the 73 though might be hard to find and even the parts for the early Uberti 66 22s won t exchange with the currently made onesIMG_1447.jpeg

Do you know anything about the Canadian importer back in 1990’s which brought in the 73 Carbine in 22 LR? ( Canadian Arm Corp Prince George, BC )
Does your 66 Carbine has the Canadian importer!s stamp on the barrel?
I wonder also when did Uberti stopped manufacturing the 73 Carbine?
 
I had a Uberti 73 carbine in 22lr quite a few years ago but there was no importers name on it.My carbine is a Cimmaron Uberti 66 with no importers stamp.The current Uberti 66s in 22 have changed a bit as they don’t t have the skeletonized type hammer and the side loading gate on the magazine tube of the earlier models.I had a 66 in 22mag in the sporting rifle but it was a bit too heavy to hunt with .Also the early 66 s had the saddle ring like your 73 but they don t have a ring now

I am curious how many of the 73 were made before it was discontinued. I never knew they made these before. I just happened to find one at Reliable Guns recently...strange...

I believe the 66s are more common than the 73s .I almost bought tat one at Reliable gun but I kind of like the brass frame of the 66 more , the rifle version is real nice but like I said heavy.The 22 Uberti 73s also came in a rifle version but more scarce than the carbine.The Achilles heal on both the 66 and the is the extractor which can break due to it being on the thin side and Uberti doesn t make parts for the older version of the 66 or the 73 .They only make parts for the current 66 version that is the reason I eventually sold off the 73 carbine I had and bought the 66 later

It's good to know, thanks! Just in case - for the extractor - I will start looking for it - as a spare. I realised the 73 is rare - that's why I bought it ;)) I took it out to TMSA and had shot 200+ rounds - groups high ( & right ) at 50 yards, so will try drifting rear sight (left) to try again next time.
 
The gun might had been sighted for 50 / 100 yards at the Uberti facility originally? At LRGC indoor 25 yards my groups were consistently high ( 7 rings positioned) even when consciously aiming “low”.
There is only one tang screw on the 73 so any idea a Marble tang peep sight will fit? May just fit one anyway ( as 22 LR has no issue with recoil to knock off the tang sight - just thinking out loud ☺️ )
Btw do you know which tang sight will fit the 73 ? My Marble tang I used for my Marlin 1893 won’t swap well with the 73. Old eyes need much help & adjustment these days 🥲😅 Thanks!!
 
The new marble and Lyman tangs made for th,e 73 will fit and you can also drill it for the other hole if you want.One thing I liked about the 73 verses the 66 is the dust cover when hunting .As 66 doesn t have a dust cover one has to keep your over the breech when hunting to keep dirt/snow out.You can also use one of the Marbles bullseyes rear sights as it is a sort of peep sight that fits in the rear dovetail

I’ve not thought of this kind of rear sight ( Marbles bullseye ) before. If it’s able to have a clear sight picture then that’s the one I’ll get.
 
Yes.It s used like a peep sight as you look through the sight and basically only use the front sight.The tang sights have the advantage as being closer to the eye and are more authentic
