a few weeks ago I bought a gorgeous .357 Uberti Lightning from a guy in the Victoria
Fish & Game club. Unfortunately I was so excited to find one that I did not inspect the gun well before buying it. it appeared to function "ok" was a little stiff sliding the action back and forth but I figured that it was just because the gun was so new..... wrong, i have put only 50 rounds through it and now its so jammed up that i can barely push the slide back into position. I have cleaned it out and lubed it with g96 -4 times, I cant seem to find any good tear down instructions on the net other than one page that has very poor instructions and no pics/video. there are screws on the gun that are damaged which tells me that this guy had the gun apart ( he swears that he hasnt ) . so to recap, it is hard to pull the slide back and near impossible to get it to close. any one else have one of these ???

cheers,

I would suggest finding some cowboy action shooting forums or websites. Some of them use Lightnings and they tend to like to tune and polish for slicker actions.

Best of luck. Should be a hoot to play with when you get it sorted out.

I finally found a teardown manual that seemed trustworthy and did it myself, found the problem, and discovered that the idiot that owned it before me had tried to take it apart with what must have been a chain saw. it does work better now and I did finally get to enjoy shooting it last weekend, and no small claims court - happy ending

cheers

Care to let us know where you found the take down manual?
