Hey, folks.

Been thinking of the Uberti Baby Rolling Block in .357 mag for a few years now. Touched base with P&D to discuss bringing one in. I'm told it's $1200 (or possibly more depending on what exchange does) and a two year wait.

Before I jump in and tie up quite a lot of funds over the lifespan of a hampster on something like this, I'd be curious to chat with someone who has one. Would that be any of you?

Dan

I had a Uberti .357 RB that I allegedly bought for my wife .... ;>) Beautiful little gem of a rifle, but .....

I was disappointed in it's accuracy out to 100 yds, particularly with BP. It has too long a barrel at 24" - 26" (?) for most smokeless loads and the potential of the cartridge. I can't remember what the twist was, but it didn't stabilize lead bullets very well, the same load that shoots very well in her Marlin carbine. I was damned if I was going to feed it a diet of jacketed bullets.

I tried some factory 158 .357 loads and in my opinion, they were too powerful for the gun. You got the distinct impression that they were stressing the action.

I toyed with the idea of rechambering it to .357 Maximum to get in more BP, but thought better of it since that invited disaster with a factory .357 Maximum load.

I have one in .22 Rim Fire . It seems to be put together ok. I cant comment to much about accuracy with it's open sight's. My ability with open sight's are pretty limited.
It is a boy's sized rifle , much to little for any thing bigger than .22 in my opinion. Not commenting on the strength only the size. I had to order the one that I have and it took quite a while. If I were to go through the Uberti wait again , I would wait for a Low Wall. In my opinion a much better sized gun for a rifle I intended to shoot. Warning I had a Uberti schutzen Low Wall .22 Rim Fire on order for over 3 years from one of the down town Edmonton gun shops . I finally canceled the order . I was never sure if it was a Uberti issue or an ordering issue .But that shop is no longer in business .

I find your stories of ludicrously long waiting times to be nothing less than down-heartening, to say the least. Here in UK the main Uberti importer, Henry Krank, has most Uberti-made guns in stock, in every conceivable style and configuration. I wanted a 32" bbl High Wall with the crescent stock and chequered forend and pistol grip. It was not in stock, but took less than three weeks to get.

If you want one quick you could get one from taylors in the states aand have prophet River bring it in.It won t take you 2years to get and the price would be close to the same

Last year I ordered an 1858 Remington conversion to match one that I had won at a CAS match. When the dealer ordered it he did so on speaker phone to Stoeger who would be importing it. Stoeger told us it could be a 2 year wait based on when Uberti made more. I had the gun in less than 3 months. I realize there are more bad news stories than good but you never know.
