Hi there, I need some help. I am looking at buying a UBERTI Cattleman in a .45 single action. Can anybody give me a heads up about these? It is going to be my first handgun and don't want to be spoiled on buying junk. It looks good and feels good as far as of the action and hand grip but I don't know anything about UBERTI. I need some wisdom from you guys.

Thanks

I have a cattleman in .44.40 i got new in 1996, Put a lot of warm re-loads thrue it and except for being a bit knocked around it is still tight and a good shooter. Uberti was sold out to i think Barretta so i dont know what they are like now. Good luck. .45-90

My Uberti Experience

I am the proud owner of two Uberti Cattleman SAA's in .45 Colt and they were my first handguns.

I have put thousands of rounds through them in the sport of Cowboy Action Shooting out here in "Friendly Manitoba" (forget that Spirited Energy bullsh_t!).

I took the time to have a competent gunsmith install Wolf springs and check the insides over for any rough spots that may affect the action.

I have kept them clean and lubed and enjoyed their use without one hiccup, while watching others in my posse step to the line and have the same pistol jam and misfire ( even have bits fall off ).

Uberti makes a good product for the money. The rest is your responsibility. The same is true with any firearm. If you don't take care of them, they will be good as small paper weights.

However... these are reproductions of a firearm that is limited in its accuracy. You will enjoy working up a handload that works well in your shooting iron and spend hours at the range as long as you understand the limits of the firearm you are buying.

If you want a more accurate handgun, check with the many experienced members here on Gunnutz and find something that will do exactly what you want it to.

I hope this helps.

Cheers.
