Uh-oh....what to choose!

I bought a tikka T3 stainless synthetic last year. Great gun. Go with 30 06 and a limbsaver pad. Light guns do kick. Listen to the guy saying the 06 does it all 99.99% of the time.
Shoots all ammo well. Win accubonds and cheapo's 180 gr.
Some old fed partions 180 gr.
Rem cor lock 150 gr.

About 15 groups at 100 yards best 7/8 " and worst 1 1/2 "

I considered a 300 short mag. I spoke to a shooting expert guy about my limited big game experence. 2 bull moose, 3 whitetails, 25 caribou. Apart from the caribou the deer/moose were all taken between 10 and 40 yards. He said he has taked about 180 alberta big game and the longest shot was 180 yards.
Trust the 30 06.

Just do not be disappointed with groups like mine in a hunting gun.

Just bought a tikka varmint in 204.

Interesting. We build and sell Palma stuff. I took a Savage, a Remington and a T3 (none of which we normally sell) and put them on the bench out of the stocks and said to the guys pick one. They laughed and walked away. In other words there is no comparison.

I just bought a remmy LSS in 270wsm, what a sweet rifle, better quality of wood. I like T3, but I don't like the feeling of the plastic magazines, seems realy realy cheep

Cheap does not matter, what works does.

and life's to short to shoot a gun you're not 100% satisfied with.

the tika's shoot strait. smooth, well machined actions. but plastic parts? :puke: what a shame.

Interesting that the recommendations so far are running at well over ten to one for the Tikka over the Rem or the Savage.
If you ask you will find that most of the satisfied Tikka owners have owned or still own Remingtons.
For what it's worth the synthetic used in the Tikka's is a copolymer-glass blend and I have never seen a Tikka mag come back broken, bent or malfunctioning....ever. Ask at your local gunstore and I guarantee they will tell you the same thing.

some guy on 24 hr campfire had his shroud crack in half when he got some sort of cleaner/solvent on it while cleaning. Not sure what kind it was, too lazy to go look
