There is actually a big difference.
Yes - I understand that the Ukraine was a part of the Soviet Union and that all Tula/Izzy SKS rifles were originally made in the Soviet Union.
However - the exported rifles which come out of crates marked from the Ukraine are some of the nicest SKS rifles out there. These crates seem to have the highest percentage of Non-Refurb rifles, and even their refurbs have nice bluing vs. BBQ painted metal finishes, the vast majority don't have modern markings ('Made in Russia', Molot), and inside each crate are all the accessories. These are often the most 'cosmo covered' rifles, but they are usually in Very Good to Excellent condition.
Recent Russian/Molot rifles have been re-worked recently. They often have heavily sanded stocks, even a Non-Refurb example will have a mis-matched magazine from when they internally pinned them, the metal finish is some type of black BBQ paint and often the bayonets have signs of rust.
I'd take a rifle with Ukraine origin any day of the week.
