Hey guys,

I'm looking to start a 6.5 CM or 7mm-08 LR hunting build and figured that these looked like a pretty good deal. I liked the aftermarket support of the 700 foot print, and really like the savage style modularity. These actions are also substantially cheaper than other "precision" style actions that I could find (Defiance, Surgeon et al) and are Canadian made to boot. The only drawback I could find was that some users found a heavy bolt lift on a previous generation - I think it was on the U300 model.

With black friday on I saw they were offering a trigger tech trigger and decided to roll the dice.

Does anyone have these in hand (or better yet, installed in a rifle)? I'd be curious to hear what they thought.

I don't think the deadline actions are shipping until early next year but I could be wrong.

I also could be wrong about this but I think they changed from the U300 to the deadline to because of the heavy bolt lift.

I know a guy who also has one coming, I look forward to seeing his review when it comes out.

A friend of mine ordered one. He has been drooling over it for a while and as a huge triggertech fan, the black friday deal was just too good to pass up. I look forward to fondling it. Had I been int he market for a new action, it would have definitely been on the list.

I think my buddies order was number 1009, would you be willing to say if you were above that or below that? I'm sure it'll make for an exciting, early christmas gift to himself if his ships earlier then the ~8 weeks he is expecting.

Have been running the U300 all season. It ran great after brake it. The guys really stepped it up for the Deadline. I have not handled the new action but know a shooter I trust and he was impressed.
Have heard they have the bolt lift way down and very smooth. Hope to have one shortly.

Ryan

Did you find the bolt-lift got lighter? I handled one (granted, not in a stock) and found it too heavy, so I went with a Big Horn TL3.

They claim a seven pound lift compared to 22 with the old action.

Mustang - My order number is actually a couple higher than your friend's so hopefully he's getting one of these first ones too. I better hurry up and find a barrel I suppose.

The new actions have a much lighter bolt lift and a super smooth cycle for a three lug design! I've had a chance to play with the deadline when it was freshly oiled and after a long day at the range, where both times it felt awesome! The only time I have seen the bolt lift get a little heavier is under high pressure loads and a lot of them thrown through the gun lol! If you've got one on order, you will not be disappointed.

Hey Vultr,

Still working on that one as we haven't had a chance to throw it in an ESS or LSS-XL Gen 2 yet :( As long as it is a Rem 700 footprint, there should be no problem!
