Ultimatum U300

I have an enquiry in with them. I am looking at building a .223 trainer. But I am wondering how sturdy the floating bolt head is? My surgeon is one piece. Also, so the threads are the same as a remington? So the threads are not as long as a tikka? Or a surgeon? The surgeon website says that by incorporating the recoil lug into the action, the threads are longer. So is it the same with the Ultimatum action? Maybe it's a question I should as Ultimatum?

Thanks!

On their website in the "About Us" section they have a link to send questions/ inquiries, probably best to ask them directly. I already emailed asking a bunch of questions but I completely forgot to ask about tennon length.

The floating bolt head design is plenty sturdy. I can't speak for this action specifically, but the general design is sound.

With an integrated recoil lug and replaceable bolt heads, you could easily use this as the base for a switch barrel setup, I'm thinking? With custom actions such as this, do you normally still have to have the feed ramp "notched" to be able to run a COAL longer than say 2.850 (like a Remington)?

I found some more info here: https://www.iwa.info/en/ausstellerprodukte/iwa16/product-9616477/the-ultimatum-action

"- Integral recoil Lug - 5/16 thick integral lug round action 5/16 longer barrel threads - more support for heavier barrels"

Looks like the barrel threads are 5/16 longer, same as the thickness of the recoil lug.

I really like the looks of this for a switch barrel, similar options to the new Bighorn Arms TL3 action except for the mechanical ejector. I would like to see a magnum bolt face for WSM/ SAUM calibers.

They still haven't responded to my inquiry. I asked them if they have long action and/or magnum actions on the horizon.

As far as strenght goes , i think they will be , fine having a two piece bolt , ie head & body , should make for easy & cheap spare bolt heads , and means IF you wreck one with bloown primers , gas cutting the face of the bolt , its a quick , easy & cheap fix , via a spare head etc .
I see these advertised in a Australian gun magazine , for sale , already .
I would like the option of a different handle , ie more like my AI AW , ie swept & ball etc
Later Chris
