desided to get a ultrasonic case cleaner, I see there are a few out there and just wondering what brands are good & what to stay away from.
thinking of a Lyman Turbo Sonic 2500 Case Cleaner as my first choice or a Lock-N-Load Sonic Cleaner 2L

what are your thoughts any others out there that might be better?

I have the lyman 2500. It's OK, get's the brass clean in 4-5 cycles if you only put a single layer of brass in the bottom of the hopper ( about 35 243win size cases) but it only stays on for 8 min at a time so you have to babysit it. For the price, I'm happy with it.

I've been looking at the ultrasonic cleaners as well. Doing a search in the Reloading forum will give you a ton of threads on the subject.

One takeaway for me was that the Lyman 2500 is a generic US cleaner and if you look on ebay, there are loads of the identical unit for sale for cheaper than the branded unit.

Timmy: Have you tried the Hornady solution? Apparently it's one of the better ones. And it might make it quicker for you. There's recipes out there to make your own solution that cleans and shines.

They work alright but if your doing allot of brass they are slow. If you do a few loads then not a huge deal but dealing with alot of brass is time consuming. They tend to come out a milky type clean but if you throw it into a tumbler after they look really nice.

I have tried all the home brews, don't waste your time just get the Hornady soloution.

I can get 150 .223 brass or roughly 300 9mm clean in one cycle....

If you want shiney get a vibrator :D

I have the Lyman, works great. I tried the home made, vinigar and water and brass polish and all that, was not happy with the discolouration of the brass. I bought some hornady one shot cleaning solution and it works great. As the other's said, you can not do a whole lot at once but they do come out nice and clean.

I use a Lyman Ultrasonic with vinegar, lemon juice and a squirt of Dawm dish soap. It does a very good job of getting the cases clean inside and out, and gets most of the primer pockets in about 2 cycles. Then I rinse them off with hot tap water and put them in the oven @ 250F for 15 minutes to dry them. Then into the tumbler to make them all shiny.

Yes it is another step in the loading process (just what I need) but I have enough match brass to only have to do this once a year.

Looks like I will have to try the Hornady solution.

i just bought the lyman 2500 turbo and i've been using the lyman solution, with about 500 9mm in the basket i can get them all clean in about 15 minutes, then i rinse them under tap water to remove the solution

finally i just spread them all out over a towel over night to let them dry

the trick i find is to follow the instructions on the bottle and dont spread the solution to thin, also make sure you wait long enough and the water has properly heated up, when its to temperature i find it cleans brass very efficiently
