Ultrasonic cleaner fire

Hi everyone. Yesterday a friend of mine almost had his shop burn down due to a faulty Harbour Freight ultrasonic cleaner. The cleaner was plugged in, but not being used, just sitting on a work bench. After a little bit of searching we found it is not a freak occurrence. Please everyone who has one, Be Careful !

It is not just ultra sonic cleaners.
It can happen with any kind of electrical device.
Some are built better than others and some not so.
Glad there was no loss of life in this instance.

Yup. Put that stuff on a good quality power bar and switch it off when not in use or when out of the house.

I hope he was insured.

That's why a lot of stuff from the states doesn't meet Canadian electrical standards. Hope all is well!
