This post is related to MBRs, i.e. M14s.

I have a small ultrasonic cleaner apparatus.

The M14 bolt, or the trigger group will fit in it.

By filling the cleaner with de-ionized water and operating it, would this save from stripping down both these items into their component parts?

I really would prefer to avoid brake cleaner, paint thinner, et al for the cleaning process.

Thoughts?

I don't know,

From my past experience with stainless steel tattoo equipment in ultrasonic cleaners, I'd be worried about corrosion (the solderded parts had a tendency to rust).

Maybe I'd try it with a machining coolant based solution to prevent corrosion.

Just my .02

As long as it cleans it of all the crud then go for it. My only advice would be to blow it all apart anyways to lube it up with the proper grease. Dry parts don't work that well. Springs and pivot points in the bolt (none on the firing pin - dry!) and the same on the trigger group
