I bought this cheap ultrasonic cleaner from The Source.

Anyways, I read a review on 6mmbr.com and the recipes they found best. I messed around and got great results using hot water and a few squirts of CLR. It cleans the brass inside and out like new. Only problem I found that if it is really old brass with some rust, it takes the rust right off and that area is pink after.

Anyone else use an ultrasonic cleaner?

It will hold about 20 7mmRm and like 60 or so 223. If the primers are removed it cleans the pockets spotless.

What I've been doing is one quick cleaning, resize and de-capping and then a good cleaning again. That way they are clean and do not jam the dies and the second cleaning does the primer pockets and whatever may have missed. It does a super great job. I should post some before and after.

not sure if this willwork for you, but can you mix a little 2 stroke oil into it or something like that to try to stop it from rusting? not sure what that will do to brass , but i do that when i am cleaning carbs to antique gun parts in mine. (i put 1 cap full of 2 stroke oil in mine) mine is a ss one and twice the size

I thought that the best cleaning solution was 50% water and 50% vinegar then a rinse with baking soda to kill the acetic reaction, then rinse with hot water. FS

See i tried that and got no better results that doing one cycle with hot water and CLR. I rinse again with hot water and leave them to dry. The only problem is it takes ALL the rust completely off and the brass is pink under the rust.

If you use vinegar that you have to do all those steps or the brass goes blue, I tried it.

I just bought that ultrasonic cleaner at La Source but I'm afraid that I will return it. It's way too small and it only have a 3 minutes cycle. I like the way it cleans though. With some CLR, 4 cycles of 3 minutes cleans my brass much better than my tumbler.

I have got 2.5l cheap ultrasonic cleaner with a heating element to keep water warm, I say hot.
Depends on quantity of the brass and solution and time it does good job.
For me, most important is to have a chamber of the case clean, and it is clean.
I use citric acid and works very well:
..."Citric acid is the active ingredient in some bathroom and kitchen cleaning solutions. A solution with a 6% concentration of citric acid will remove hard water stains from glass without scrubbing. In industry it is used to dissolve rust from steel"...

I only add maybe 5oz of citric acid to luke warm water and vola.
