Hello all
I've been playing chemist with my ultrasonic cleaning solution and found a better (I think) use for citric acid. I've used citric acid for a while but was never really pleased with the end result. The cases were clean for sure but never bright. After much googling and thinking I finally found a recipe I like:
In separate containers prepare 25 g citric acid in 500 ml water and 25 g baking soda in 500 ml water - mix the solutions together carefully. The result will be a chemical reaction (lots of foam from the CO2 so be prepared!) ending up with homemade sodium citrate solution. Scale up the recipe to fill the ultrasonic cleaner. Add a squirt of your favorite dish soap to complete the cleaning solution. Pour the sodium citrate solution into the ultrasonic machine, heat up to operating temperature then proceed as normal.

Results are impressive with clean shiny cases in no time. A quick rinse is required post cleaning then dry the cases in the oven at 230 F for 20 minutes.

Anyone use this method?
