Umarex .22 MP5 - any chance?

youd think they'd at least let us have the .22 version of the prohibited gun for sport shooting and collectors purposes.....i mean...who the heck is going to chose a .22 for a killing spree or domestic violence? I just dont see the danger in letting John Q public have wimpy 22 versions of prohibited guns.

Also, we cant have full auto but we should be able to keep our full auto BLANK guns......

If the purpose of laws is to protect people then why pass laws that just annoy people with no purpose? Those FA blank guns dangerous are they?

gah

You are talking about people who prohibit guns based solely on their names and nothing else...what kind of logic did you expect?

Actually, Criminal Code specifically lists certain Valmet models as an exception to the AK47 variant prohibition. There is no exceptions to the MP5/variant prohibition.

The problem lies in the interpretation of "variant"

I think a big part of it has to do with the fact that the manufacturer (GSG) took the initiative to declare it a variant of the MP5 when it came to market. Thats how they advertised it.

We're kidding ourselves to think the RCMP would go out of their way to otherwise show that it is not in fact an MP5 or variant thereof as the manufacturer declared & therefore not subject to our prohib criteria.

Perhaps we can all e-mail/petition someone like ATI to come out with a similar to the MP5 look stock for a 10/22 or a 597. Those actions are non-restricted (If proper barrel/OAL). I know it might look a little ridiculous with a 18.5 inch barrel sticking out the front. But atleast its better than nothing.

Also anyone know the legalities with making a stock for a firearm in Canada? Ive got a few ideas for some builds but I dont want to have to sift through red tape to do so.

Hi.

With rimfire rifles, barrel length is completely unimportant. As long as the overall length (when fully collapsed) is above ~26", it is non-restricted.

I think making a G3 lookalike .22 kit would be a lot easier.
