Umarex UZI bb CO2 pistol...need opinions.. broke down, bought a steel force

Same here.

I like my Umarex UZI - also been trouble free. Good construction - and tons of fun. Should add I suppose, I did get jams with certain brands of BBs at least before she got wore in. Right now it's eating Daisy zinc-plated no problem.

Extra mags are hard to find, as I say I found a couple on Amazon - but extra mags make this Uzi even more fun...

I also have a Steel Storm, which uses TWO CO2 capsules, and shoots either semi, or 6-shot bursts.

I must say, the Uzi "feels" more authentic (I think - I've never fired one, lol), but it strips down cool, and has noticeable "recoil". But it DOES chew through CO2 on FA...maybe 2 mags of 30 BBs and you're done. Of course, firing in shorter bursts, and giving the powerlet a minute to warm up again, will increase life. Semi-auto provides the longest life...but, hey...

The Steel Storm is probably a little better "value" at closer to $100-$125, but it is more plastic than the UZI which, to ME, feels and looks pretty authentic!

The Steel Storm DEFINITELY hits a little harder as well, the UZI using up a lot of CO2 to work the "action".

No question, the Uzi uses a LOT of CO2. It costs as much (if not more) to run 'er as a .22, depending on where you get your CO2 anyway.

BUT the fun factor, as you say, is HIGH. ;) so ya picks yer battles. My kids and my wife also love it.

Never tried a Steel Storm but they do look neat!

So scootin around the web , I found replica airguns site. Long story short, the price was very reasonable.Even with shipping and tax it was only $4.00 higher then a gun shop 2 hours from me and saved me $50.00 in fuel and my time. Its the Umarex steel force...6 shot full auto or single shot semi.Dual co2 cylinder so that might get a bit costly but we will see...I should have it in about a week.I still want the uzi...but for now I will have to settle for this..Lets call it a jump at the moment decision..Oh and its not airsoft..it shoots 177 cal steel bb's..

Was thinking of getting a steel force, is the quality any good? Do they feel like a toy?

Well lets see here...its now sitting in front of me.The quality seems to be good. They are made out of plastic,BUT...its not a feeble plastic like the Mossberg 715 22 rifle. Its solid. The LOP is a tad bit short, but its not meant for some one with long arms!! The stock pulls out and has about 1/16 inch of deflection in both universal and horizontal movement. Its built way better in that dept then the UZI is.The selector switch is firm and positive, from clicking between safe, semi, and full it has audible clicks and locks up solid. The forward rails on the right side and bottom are real solid for mounting accs. The only kicker on it is the top rail. I mounted a LER scope on it.To load the reservoir you slide the front sight back, load then slide it forward. I mounted a scope and couldn't load it...but its a easy fix.The forward scope ring is mounted 3 notches back. It took the pressure off the top rail and everything works fine now.I just gave it a twist test and its solid.being molded from good plastic it should stand up just fine.

All in all I would give it a 8 out of 10...When I bought it I was a bit nervous about it,but after scoping it and shooting it..I would buy another one with no hesitation...

Thanks icehunter121 for the detailed quality assessment. I may pick one up the next time I put an order in to Airgunsource for ammo. It is a decent looking plinker. I have had good luck with other Umarex products in the past and normally they do a decent job in terms of keeping quality up. I have one of their Walther CP-88 pistols in nickel and its beautiful. Last time I was in Basspro I handled the display m4-177 and it felt like a toy, the plastic shell even had that cheap plastic shine that abs drain pipe has. I figured Umarex would do a better job than Crosman in terms of quality.

THXS for the tip on the m4..I just about bought one last weekend in wally world. The umarex definitely doesn't look like a piece of shiny plastic plumbing pipe. This has just a nice satin low sheen to it...

I've been a collector and player of airsoft for going on 8 years now. I've had the umarex uzi. It's an alright little gun but too expensive for what you are getting.

I recently picked up a TF mac 11 that I found at princess auto. The thing was 80 bucks. Runs on co2 and has a fire rate of about 24 bb/sec. It's a solid pistol for half the price of the umarex
