Gentlemen,

I just purchased a pistol that came with a ported, .40 barrel. After shooting it, I am less than impressed and am wondering if there is some magic way of filling in the ports somehow, short of using a magic wand.

I should also mention that the barrel is not long enough to just have the ports cut off as that would make the overall length 12(6) and me a criminal for owning it.

Thanks.

The only way to possibly do it,would be to weld them up,ream out the excess in the barrel, chase the rifling and re cut it in that area and then turn the outside in a lathe ...in other words.
new barrel..

Are the ports on part of the barrel projecting in front of the slide? Or is the pistol a hybrid, with the slide slotted, and the ports back from the end of the slide?
If the barrel projects, I would turn it down, and install a sleeve over the area. But the remains of the ports would still be in the bore, and would no doubt collect fouling.
A suggested, a new barrel would probably be the best solution.
