I agree with you and the other posters that in person- inspect before you buy is the way to go! Even living in the Ottawa area there unfortunately aren’t many options for in person shopping for firearms beyond the Cabellas ,SAIL etc which don’t always have a varied selection. I had planned to travel to a dealer to buy in person but never got around to it with everything that is going on. I am definitely wary of ordering another online.

At least if you buy the models with Walnut, it's an easy wood to work with. The Nightstick has lesser wood furniture that most likely wouldn't take as well to a refinish. It looks to me to the naked eye like similar cheap wood as the 500 Field models (if they still make this model).
In person is definitely the way to go. Not always possible though. Just picked one of these up at Phoenix in Edmonton. Last one they had. Pristine. Which was good for a floor model. Love it.
