I haven’t done a video in many years, figured this was an occasion worth recording so bear with me, I’m no pro. My last handgun arrived this afternoon, and it struck me there is a fair chance this is the last time I’ll open one. Little bit of the story of why I chose it as I unbox her, was a whim purchase in the midst of incredibly busy times at work and I think fate chanced nicely.

Nice Smith unboxing video! Sad times. Hope things change for the better so it won't be your last or our last.

I have a new to me 617-3 5" It's a beauty minus cracked rubber grips at the butt end.

Nice one, Angus! Always fun to hear the stories about why people choose particular firearms... yours is a darn good reason! I've had a couple of K22s and 17's over the years, but when this hoopla around the handgun freeze came up, I was left without one. Although I put in an an offer on a 17-3, I was beat by another CGNer, so alas, it was not to be! There's actually just one particular 17 that I terribly regret not jumping on, and that was H4831's 6" that he had posted for sale probably 11 or 12 years ago.

Anyways, I think you did well on your choice. I was figuring it might have actually been a Model 14 when you mentioned the police connection!

Thanks guys for the kind words, YouTube is a thing my kids do now and they’d cringe at dad doing it. :d

Stirling I nearly bought H4831’s too. Sticks out in my memory too. He flew with it back in the day lots, too, and it was talked about in his book. Those days are sadly over for us, but grateful I was able to get one before the present end.

Enjoy shooting it! I'm sure you will love it.

Don't have a 17 but love my 14-3, it's on my never sell list, although all my handguns made it to that list now I guess...

Very nice piece. My last one (hopefully not the last ever) is a Dlask Pro Plus 1911 in 9mm that Josef finished for me a month ago. It’s fast becoming my favourite.

Very nice. I HOPE down the line, cooler heads will prevail and we won't be talking about our last handgun. But for the moment, what I've settled on for my last/latest, is a mint Ruger Hawkeye with a few related accessories.
