unboxing a Rascal

Everytime I take my daughter into a gun shop, she searches the rack for a pink gun, so it's only a matter of time before one of these follow me home.

Mine did the same thing. Every time walking through CT she'd tell whoever was walking by "that's my gun" while pointing to the pink Rascal.

It ended up coming home with me one day.

Warms the heart to see the next generation adopt a rifle of their own, for my generation it was a Cooey and I still have mine. Wouldn't part with it.
Love the pictures of you folks with your little ones.

I always thought the Rascal would make a great trapper's gun. Here in Nova Scotia trappers can carry a single shot .22 for dispatching trapped animals, outside of some of the hunting seasons. At least is used to be that way when I was trapping back in the 70s.

It would still the lightest non restricted firearm you could probably get for the purposes of putting down a fox or cat in a bad snare.

I bought myself one just to have it as we were not allowed guns as kids. Have never shot it yet and maybe never will. Made a hardwood box for it and everything. I was in Edmonton recently and they had every colour you could think of and a orange one almost came home with me a few times.

My daughter certainly lovers her Rascal!
Shoots tacs!

Eyes & ears, perfect spot for the trigger finger~way to go dad! The smile says it all.

Our family's green Rascal has been dry-docked for a couple of years, the kids have all out-grown it. Still~can't bring myself to sell the thing. I'm only 47, but I can see it maybe being the next generation's first shooting experience!

Great thread and I cant wait to give my son his Rascal. I bought it for him last year played around with it a little bit to see what it was capable of but the stock is much too short for an adult. He's only 3 1/2 right now the waiting game is killing me. The one I have for him has a parkerized finish I've never seen a polished blued one before. I picked up a Stevens 300 with added Accu trigger its much better for me.

If you're looking for a case for the Rascal, I picked up one of the Allen "Tactical" pistol grip shotgun cases. Fits perfect and has storage pockets for ammo, earplugs, glasses, etc.

Me too.....

Don`t care about LOP ,just for fun and packing.

The Chiappa Little Badger probably be lighter than a Rascal and folds in half.

I really like these little kid's 22s.

Got a youth sized Savage MKIGY for my grandson 6 years ago and he is only now barely able to shoulder it. So I have shot it a few times and got to like the way it handles being so light and compact. I'm not tall, which is a kind way of saying that I am short, barely 5'8" but with abnormally long arms. I should feel uncomfortable with short LOP rifles but I happy to say I can adapt to most any rifle from the Savage MKIGY to SKS to M1 carbines to ARs to Lee Enfields, M1 garands and M1As.

Anyways, I love the handling of compact rifles so much I invested in a CZ452 Scout, which is my favorite 22 right now. My 452 Style and Varmint seem so long beside it.

I went with a TC Hot Shot for my daughter to learn on. My father in law was sure to pick up one of these so she'll have both to learn with.

The Hot Shot has a stock spacer which makes the LOP much better for an adult.

I have a Pink one that I put Hello kitty sticker's on. I keep it on the dash of my truck when Hunting. No one think's it's a real firearm

Yes their rimfires are made in Canada. For now.

I checked the A17 and B22 Magnum models at a store recently and those are made in the US. Makes me worried for the folks in Lakefield and the evergreen Mark II and 93 series (I suppose the Model 64 too) since both the A-model semis and B-model bolts have .22lr models listed on the Savage site and some retailers already listing them as available
