I was just reading the IDPA approved "kit list" and it states that the Uncle Mikes Kydex holsters are NOT appoved for IDPA competition:mad:

Anyways... I was wondering if the UM kydex is allowed in Canadian Defensive pistol or is it also not approved? Currently this is the only holster I have for my XD40...

how strictly is this rule enforced if the holster is completely concealable?

Thanks for any info

Has anyone used the UM kydex in IDPA/CDP?

Good news is that the rules say one can modify it to hug the hip, thus making it legal.

Blade-Tech belt holsters are IDPA compliant...

As far as I know the Serpa is good to go for IDPA as long as you have put the paddle on instead of the belt loop attachment as it holds the pistol too far from the body. I use the Serpa and love it. Hope this helps.

Too far from the body? Mine holds my 226 nearly snug against my waist. Or maybe my ever growing waist is moving outward to meet the pistol.. ha

Howdy

Well the chap that is the head of CDP for the CSSA uses a kydex holster even he knows it is a no no in IDPA. He double loops his belt in the holster to get rid of the air space (Air space is the reason Kydex is a no no in IPDA) and feels it is okay.

Now, having said that, there are only a handfull of CDP shooters so I find myself having to "allow non standard gear" for first time shooters, so that they can try IDPA out. I tell them that their holster is not "Catholic" and that in the future, I expect them to have the proper gear.

In the future, as more shooters take up the sport, the rules will be better know by shooters, and new people will be "encouraged" to tow the line by the group.

Could I use my Galco Combat master in IDPA?

I suppose pulling an 8inch 12 guage out of a Galco purse hoslter is a no no? lol..

My understanding is that while waring a jacket, when the arms are raised to a horizontal position, the pistol must not be visible.

Correct!

It will be interesting to see what happens with revolvers. CDP maximum BBL length is 6 inch, Canada being Kanada:rolleyes: The shooter will need to wear a longer jacket because the conceal ability rules still apply

Kydex holsters are ok it is that some are made that do not conform to the rules. Whoever thinks "Kydex" holsters are illegal is simply wrong. It is not all that difficult to go to the IDPA website and read the rules regarding holsters.

Take Care

CDP Holsters

That's a good question. A lot of products are billed as concealable but there are levels. A holster with too much air space will print more under a jacket or vest and frankly is easier to draw providing a minor/major advantage to the competitor. It may also make pistol dislodgement easier as well.

Valley Guns is selling an excellent holster, can't rember the name at the moment, it's the one with the release button. A lot of serious shooters are using it and V.G. can't get them in fast enough. I have ordered mine from the next shipment. Tac Pro Inc Thornhill also has one I want to check out.

Since CDP operates under IDPA rules their web site at www.idpa.com will provide the most complete description of acceptable holsters
