Found this in a garbage can at the range recently and combined with the empty IVI .303 casing found a couple years earlier I may start believing in unicorns, bigfoot, aliens, Nessie.........

Anyone know anything about this IVI .303 stuff, will it ever be on the civilian market, quality, etc. I suppose its what the Northern Rangers get issued.

What, no unicorn pic ? :(

Back on topic, I see these spent cases and boxes around my local range, I also suspect it is Ranger use as we have a unit in my area.

I wish I had a whole case of those unicorns. I was surprised to see these as I doubt there are any Ranger detachments in Ottawa, not saying they cannot be in town and getting range time. It would be so VERY good if IVI made and sold .303 to the civilian market.

ranger use only, they dropped two 5 gallon pails of fired brass off at my house and then got it trouble for it as the brass is supposed to go back to HQ for proper disposal, however they soon forgot how it was they got to my house from the main road and I refused to answer my phone for a few days

Lol! Lucky guy!

I've worked with the Rangers and Cadets .303 brass is somthing I have. No you can't have any...... With the Rangers it wasn't worth the time or weight to ship it back to supply.its a long way from Borden to Moosenee.

It is a commercial case, not a military case. Brass is fine in a bolt gun, not so good in a Bren.

Through an error, when the military set the specs for the bullet, they specified the wrong bullet. It is a boat tail instead of a flat base. Flatbase would be more accurate.

It is mediocre ammo. But the price is right.

Handy for reloading if you shoot it in your rifle first!

If you own Enfields, Rangers are good buddies to have.

That being said, I have seen some generous head-spacing on some of their No 4's, even some that were slightly off centre, not something you'd want to reload if you had the choice.

Shoots great in a No 4 MkII, decent brass and comes in cool boxes. The brass isn't quite as nice as Prvi for reloading, though. If your bore isn't eroded by shooting corrosive (cordite) loads it'll work very nicely indeed.
