Unique powder is my all around powder, even in my antique revolvers. i beleive in babying these old relics and so i shoot
only round ball in them. in 44 russian. my round ball weighs 122 gr. thats half the weight of the original bullet .
that goes a long ways towords babying. the round ball has avery narrow contact area area and very little pressure needed
to push it down the barrel. all the early revolvers that did not have a top strap all shot round ball. there is another reason
that nobody talks about is the weatherby rifle free bore trick. these rifles with there 6 tablespoons of powder in there huge
cases cases have freebore in the chamers. this gives the bullet a free no resistance run before hitting the rifling. this tempers
the pressure spike. the loading manuals state for rifles with no free bore , use 1 tablespoon less for your starting load.
now round ball in these old revolvers , the round ball now has a long run of free bore with no resistance b4 it gets to the rifleing .
this also tempers the pressure spike. these reichsrevolvers in 44 russian are strong. the cylinder thickness at the barrel end is
90 thou . lots of meat there. i started of with 3 gr of unique and shooting at the top of a block of dry pine firewood, the ball bounced
off and the report was a tad louder than a baby fart. next 4 gr and the ball bounced off with a dent in the block of wood and
the report was like a hung over beer fart. u get the drift. i loaded till i got 3 1/2 in of penetration in the block. nice recoil and the primers
still have rounded edges, yes i have the marshmellows ready

Not me, 4.5 grains of Unique is the magical number in my world.
41 Colt is nice and spicy.
I'll usually run 4.2 for plinking these days.
I have reloaded for a few old ones... Unique is awesome.
