Does anyone have experience with Uncle Mikes Universal Holster with MOLLE?

I'm just doing some planning for the upcoming season. If my initial plan fails I'm going to need a holster for a gun that this style doesn't seem to be available. I've done some searching online and although my pistol is listed with most manufactures, only holsters for concealed carry are common. Duty holsters are also available, but I already have a nice duty holster that is NOT suitable for my intended use. Any feedback on the above holster or similar that you've had experience with would be appreciated.

whats your intended use? Some of uncle mikes products are ok, but i've never had good luck with their "floppy models"...this does look better then the ones i've used, but they all tend to be crap for re-holstering (they collapse when empty to some extent)

These type of holsters require the use of the retention strap to keep the pistol in the holster. If you're OK with that then go for it, but I expect that you would be better off with a nice kydex holster for any matches or training.

These are the type holsters we see a LOT of problems with in CQB. I cannot recommend it. I lot of the CQB participants do well with Serpas.

I would say stick with your Safailand but perhaps add changable mounts so you can move it from what I assume would be your normal belt mount to a thigh rig. I use the G-code RTI system and like it so far. Sarfariland has their own of course.
Most thigh rigs allow you to rotate the holster out of the way for Mod prone and/or at least gets the weight of your torso off of it.

any gun on your side is rigid to be rolling on....you do it enough you'll start adjusting your posture as you roll to compensate....Serpa's work well, as long as you train with them enough to remember to hit the lock on ever draw....unless you like entertaining your friends by trying to pick yourself up off the ground with your holstered gun.....btw, you can't get your feet off the ground this way,....i know, i tried.....lol

That's my current holster below, it works, but it took some practice to prevent it looking like I was working on the Yogi Levitation trick.

The gun is an earlier S&W 639 (round trigger guard, adjustable sights) so getting an obvious holster match is a bit of a chore. Leather is easy as it pretty much will fit a holster for 5906 and similar sized 3rd gen Smiths. A plastic holster is a different story though as there are some differences in the trigger guard, sights, and frame thickness. I figured that even though the Universal holster is a compromise at least it will fit even if badly.

My Safariland needs to have the pistol rocked back in order to draw. I haven't tried but I think mounting it on my thigh rig would make it all but impossible to use. What I really need is a new pistol, but that isn't going to happen till at least the summer...probably more like the fall.

I really hate ordering something and finding it won't work for me...local shop used up my last good will by quoting $65 dollars for 223 Winchester brass...so it's by the mail or an hour drive one way. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Yeah those level 3 are dog #### for drawing....
You are probably right, not much that S&W will fit in. If you mount that nylon unit solid to your leg or a molle vest it should work OK.
