The words used to describe a gun noise!!
Blap, bang , boom , peeseew , thwack, thwuck, pop, kerpow, etc..

Moose nicknames
Swamp donkey, high sped beef, bull winkle, etc...

Whitetail
Bambi, pig, hog, bush beef, antlered jerky, etc...

Ruffed Grouse
Partridge, ditch chickens, road runners, and me and my boyfriend lately have called the ones that run and don't stop "McDonalds" as in "fast food" lol, etc...

Cleftwyn I just made you fresh butter tarts and cherry tarts for this weekends hunting trip!!! Behave or I'll let the rest of the hunting group know you have them!! Lol now back to hunting terms !! :)
 
Whitetail > Fuzzy
Ruffed Grouse (partridge) > Fidridge.........my buddy calls them Sand Chickens :)
Scat > Loaf, Fudge
Rifle > Crowbar (from my bow hunting days)
Fawn > Sandwich Meat
Inland (away from the shore) > Up Country
 
funny you start this threat, ive been pondering this subject last few seasons, growing up in Poland, there is a whole different language (actual language) that is used by no other group of people but hunters, and the hunters are expected to learn and are (used to be) tested on their knowledge, they are mix of modern and archaic slavic words.
examples:
lanterns- wolves eyes (this translation is easy)
skoki which translates to 'jumpers' - back legs of a rabbit/hare
dublet -double (i think its borrowed french) a double kill, usually when hunting birds
etc etc
had a whole thesaurus officially published somewhere in the family book collection
 
We it is a great language to know , I am learning a few new ones one here.. Make me laugh , my favourite is listing to a group of people mostly men tell there hunting stories and the different gun noises they make or say!! :)
 
Camp meat --- a small deer someone though was bigger than it was. Can be eaten in a weekend !
Tender vittles-- fawn or calf meat

Flags-- deers tail well they are running away
Weebles--- a animal after shot just will not fall over!!
Tatoo -- being kicked by a not quite dead deer...your wearing that for awhile.
Hitch hikers- burrs that stick to clothing
