I recently purchased an anschutz 54 match from 1968 and I'm unsure which variant (1411,1407 etc) I have as there are no other markings on the barrel.

I wish to identify the model so I can replace the left handed stock that came with it, with a right handed prone stock. I have sourced a stock however the owner said it'll only work with the 1411 variant

Can some of you Annie gurus shine some light on this dilemma? Also, I'm still looking for stocks :)

Also, how does the 54 action stock compatibility work?

AFAIK the actions are the same. The 1411 was designed for prone shooting. The picture does not look like a 1411. The stock design defined the variant. The bolt should have a wing safety at the back end. The barrel channel might be larger for the 1411 as the prone guns had heavy profile barrels. During this time there were trigger developments which may require different inletting.

xopher,

What you have is an Anschütz 1407. All of the round 54 action variations use interchangeable stocks. You can use your barreled action in about any Anschütz stock (1408, 1411, 1413, 1607, 1611, 1613, 1807, 1810, 1811, 1813, 1907, 1910, 1911, 1913, etc...)
