Unleaded bullets in Marlin Microgrove 30-30

Learned something new about a bullet I’m already shooting, mine are indeed 30311s. Looked into it, and sure you’re aware but saying it for the thread the difference is the position of the grooves / cannelures.

They seat perfectly to the front groove for just shy of the lands in a Pre-64, and turned an old 94 that shot okay into a very tight shooter. The 94 is entirely happy digesting them at the length, in fact it seems to love it.

Tried the 140 monoflex in my brother's brand new 336 a few years ago. Terrible accuracy. Shot some into waterjugs you could see that the bullet was going down the bore at a good angle the way the rifling came off the boattail. I may still have that bullet laying around. Sent pics of it to marlin, the replaced the gun cause it had a "oversized barrel"

The 160 ftx didn't do this bit still shot bad. The micro Grove barrels need a bullet with a long bearing surface and lead so it swells on setback. Besides a plastic/rubber tipped bullet in the old rimmed case just looks wrong.

There are also two 140gr Monoflexes, one for the 30WCF (30310) and one for the 308 Marlin Express (30311).

Last I looked, Hornady had discontinued the #30311 MF. I have a 1/2 doz boxes stashed away, but haven't got around to working up a load for my 308ME.

To add to the confusion, there's also two 160gr FTX bullets, the #30395 for the 30-30Win and the #30396 for the 308ME.

This was my concern, hard bullet in a oversized bore which I think is a feature of Microgrove barrels. The Barnes looks like it has better terminal performance anyways. There seems to be little to no supply of the Nosler e-Tip.
