Unrestricted Bushmaster ACR review

I've had my ACR for almost a year now. It came with the basic 16.5" barrel, non folding stock with tri-rail handguard. Bought the folding stock off the trading forums and love it.

Upon purchase I ordered the Questar 18.7" ACR barrel and had it installed and gunkote'd at Reliable Gun. I had the original factory 16.5" barrel removed prior to firing a single shot through it (sitting on my bench as I speak) I'm currently running a PWS muzzle brake + Eotech MPO II setup.

I've read the few horror stories about the Questar match barrels but I have had a total of zero failures as of yet, few feed issues with new PMAG magazines which have since been resolved (horra for teflon lube). I have 5x 5/30 PMAGs and 10x LAR-15 mags with Magpul ranger baseplates. The LAR-15 and PMAG both function flawlessly. The gun is so easy to clean and disassemble and I haven't had any issues with accuracy or barrel problems.

Just wanted to detail my experience with the ACR as I see some posters' horror stories. I've been more than happy with the ACR and being my first real rifle caliber firearm I've become quite accustomed and spoiled by it. (I have had .22LR and still have my CX4 chambered in 9mm). The unrestricted status certainly makes it easier for me to find time to visit the range, and with the proper gunsmith the barrel functions flawlessly.

ps. just put on a Streamlight TLR-2S and loving it.

Nice rifle! I picked up a non-restricted ACR from a well-known member here. He had some issues with the non-restricted barrel that he had worked out. The rifle has been mint for me too without a single stoppage. It's super accurate and is my gopher slayer.

My Questar barrel'd ACR has been flawless as well. I used it for one of Earls 2 day One Shot Tactical Carbine courses, and it ran like a champ. I dig the piston system, it's nice to crack the rifle open after the two days and find the internals just as clean as when I started :D

I too was surprised at how clean the rifle after each day at the range. Pleasant surprise of course, seems like I'm not the only one with good experience with this barrel setup!

I've been managing 1.5" groups with cheapo AE223 ammo.
