Is any company presently selling unsorted Russian SKS's by the crate? Preferably not the heavily refurbed black-bolt shooter grades?

I remember this was common with the first IZH shipment, but nobody seems to be advertising "crate deals" since then???

That's still retail. I'm talking wholesale price, like from an importer. A crate is usually a minimum order from places like Bell.

Any of the Importer/Distributors would be happy to sell you these guns at wholesale prices if you were a licensed retail firearms dealer. If the Importer/Distributors would sell to the general public at wholesale prices (even in volume) most regular dealers would not support that distributor for future purchases. Phil.

I agreed, it's enough non licenced dealer on the market now. JACK

Become a dealer like the others have said and buy all the crates you want from importers/distributors.
That's how it's done. Establish a place of business for your dealers permit and get ready to be inspected by the RCMP/OPP or wherever you live before they approve you.

I can just imagine what would happen if you managed to circumvent that and got crates of rifles when dealers have to follow the protocol. You'll also find it's not as cheap as you think.

Actually, I do have access to a dealer license ;) I just don't know who the wholesaler presently is for the bright-bolt imports. I've got no interest in the black-bolt heavily refurbed ones out of Lever.

And anyway, I'm not even sure if I want to get a few crates or not - just mulling it over. The market is pretty saturated and it would depend upon price.

When we buy these guns in bulk (by the crate) we don't have the option of having them cherry pick out the ones we want. It is hit or miss as to what condition (bolt finish, laminated stock or specific manufacturer) we get them in for the price we are offered. They sell them to us by the crate in the sequence they are listed for ease of paper work. If we tried to ask for these specifics then they would up charge us for the time and effort thus making the retail price higher as well. We didn't grade our rifles last time except for the guns with laminated stocks. Phil.

Thanks for the info Phil. What I meant was that there were at least two frankenpin imports. The first was of lower quality with the majority being painted guns, black bolt, etc.

The second seemed to have a much higher percentage of "better" grade guns. I just wanted to get an idea which importer was bringing in the second batch. Someone pm'd me the info so we're all good - thanks for the help :)

I have found all of the importers of SKS's to be hit or miss as to the specific condition or characteristics of the guns. There hasn't been in our experience, any one source that had better or worse guns than the other. Quality of guns has varied on different shipments even from the same supplier. It is always a big suprise and/or dissapointment when we open up a crate and look inside. Phil.

Actually there has been at least 6 different importations of franken-pinned Russian SKSs so far. Bell had two,as far as I know all black bolts. IZH had one of silver bolts, not much was said about these. Lever has a mixed bag of black bolts to non-refurbeds. Westrifle handpicked their complete order,no black bolts, real nice refurbs and non-refurbs. All of these have the mag restamped. The last importation seems to be of good quality but franken-pinned. So out of all of them,if you want to get the best ones possible in a crate I'd be talking to Westrifle. More expensive, yes but no mutts in the litter.
