Im kind of at a stand still with what to purchase, Im stuck between purchasing just a standard Mosin Nagant 1891/30 and upgrade it with a PU scope later or just buy the sniper model from the start.

What are your suggestions.

going with this

http://www.westrifle.com/online/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=10&products_id=575

or just buy it locally and get the rest later?

$199.00

another store has them for $195.00 but i havent seen the condition yet.

thanks in advance

I would just get the whole package at once rather than drilling, tapping and bending the bolt on another mosin to do it. Saves time and work down the road.

My two cents!

Well, if you planned to pay 199 for a regular mosin, I'd definitely go the Westrifle sniper way. Concider that it would be 199 for mosin, plus around another 300+ for the scope, mount, bolt. And unless you're farmiliar with drill and tap, there's more you've got to spend on having the stock cut, scope mounted, bent bolt installed, etc.
If you're big into DIY, then build it yourself, but even then, Mosins can be found for better prices. Westrifle themselves have $100 Mosins, and they're surprisingly good for the price. But know how to remove cosmoline.
Hopefully this helps.

Sorry I do not understand this quote. It is 150 for Mosin with very good bore 280 for the scope and 25 for bent bolt handle. the rest is installation 25 dollars gunsmith takes that. So if you buy it all separately and pay gunsmith (not $25 for sure) Shipping separately??? It will cost you more in a long run. Not trying to discourage people just doing simple math

I was agreeing with you Sergey. I was trying to point out that if things were bought individually, it'd cost more to assemble one than buy one pre-assembled. Particularly when you factor in the cost of gunsmith.

I was only telling the OP that the buy-it-yourself DIY way only works for those who enjoy building things themselves, and have good knowledge of drill and tap.

I wholeheartedly think that unless someone has a machinist background, it's better to get a Westrifle scoped Mosin

I bought my PU rifle from westrifle when the PU's first came down in price. It's a great deal in my humble opinion.

My particular mosin PU has excellent accuracy and has quickly become my fave rifle. The bore is awesome and it loves the prvi ammo, which I am currently shooting until I can reload it!
