Unusual refurb marking on a 1945 dated M44 Izhevsk mfg’d carbine.
The usual refurb marking---a square with a line going from top to bottom as shown on this 1943 dated 91-30 Tula mfg’d rifle.

The refurb mark in question is a rectangle with the number 1 inside it on this 1945 dated M44 Izhevsk mfg’d carbine.
Does anyone know what it is?
I suspect that these different markings had different meanings.

I am not a Mosin-Nagant collector ----but I have a few of them including a 1944 dated Tula mfg’d carbine with no refurb markings in the normal place.
