About 2 weeks ago, while deer hunting using my Thompson Center Encore in 7mm08. Deer comes in that Im going to shoot, pull the trigger and "click"....deer looks in my direction, when it looks away I pull the hammer back and pull the trigger "click"....once again the deer looks in my direction stamps it front foot a couple times goes back to eating......pull the hammer back again, pull the trigger "click" the deer takes off.
Its quite cold so Im thinking the firing pin is frozen. Open the rifle take the cartridge and the primer is solidly hit, check the firing firing pin and it moves freely.
Long story short I put a fresh shell in the rifle and 45min later the deer comes back..."click" 3 times again. However this time I am able to load a fresh shell while the deer is there and this time the shell fires and I get the deer.
I compare the FTF shells to other shells and the primer strike appears the same on all of them.
Today Im at the range sighting in my M77 Ruger in 220swift. Once again Remington ammo. And I get another "click". Primer strike is the same as all the others. Shake the shell and it doesnt seem to have any powder in it either.
Ive been shooting close to 40 yrs and have never had an FTF from factory ammo, and in two weeks Ive now had 3.
Think I will send a letter to Remington now.
