Imperial luger
Regular
re lot number 173 session 3 of the upcoming Switzer Auction in February,
This pistol is advertised as a 1900 swiss luger which is incorrect, lot # 173 is an 06/29 Bern luger with the swiss cross on toggle, the grip angle and lack of a dished toggle are dead giveaways. Not to mention several other Swiss features.
Paul Switzer is a reasonable man and credible auctioneer so it would be nice if one of our Ontario members could call the auction house so they may correct their web site to reflect the true model, you can refer this post if you like and would be more than happy to defend my comments.
My comments are not of a malicious nature by any means, just trying to help out the people whom are not in the know.
Also the pistols serial number indicates 1944 military procurement, a quick check of the inside of frame well with slide removed will have a date stamp as in 5.44 or similar, 5 being the month and 44 the year of production, absence of the P serial # prefix indicates military, P is for private purchase as in commercial.
Switzers has corrected their add on lot 173 to reflect a 1929 model
