Upcoming ShadowForce Precision Rifle Course in Calgary Equipment Question

I have signed up for the above mentioned course but am looking for a cost effective rifle/caliber/glass combination for a max of 1000m range. What do you recommend? Thx.

rem 5r in .308 w/ a sightron will be more then you need and come in a bit over 2g
