UPdated!! Idiots in Toronto may block ontario spring bear hunt

That's frigging awesome. What a bunch of bone heads to even take that to court. Boy, would I ever love to buy that judge a cold glass of whatever he wants

Wish someone bought me a beer for doing my job :)

The cruelty law is specific to where it applies, I'm bit fuzzy remembering the details but regular hunting activities are explicitly excused or protected in the act, judge had no choice but to dismiss a frivolous claim

Right on! This was a potentially disastrous precedent... allowing the judicial system to make game management decisions would have brought challenges to all forms of hunting.

I was laughing watching CTV news last night. They did a segment on the court battle to save the bears. Knowing it was already thrown out was priceless.

Zookeep seems to be busy little organization , sticking it's nose into a lot of things, Thought their sole mandate was making sure zoos are up to snuff ?

Grizz

PETA started out with a "protect domestic" pets/animals mandate... then the radicals took over... irrational, emotional sensationalism is what their bag of tricks is based on...

Some of their ideas are just right out to lunch. 'Ending animal slavery' also seems to include tossing my very happy and healthy dog out into the wilderness according to their more extreme members.....I wonder how many of their celebrity spokepeople are toting around tiny dogs in purses?
Had one come round the house a year or so back asking if I'd like to join or make a donation. I informed her that I was a hunter. She said that was okay I could still give them money.....I informed her politely that I'm pretty sure my agenda and PETA's clashed somewhat. 'But what about the whales?'

'But what about the whales?'

You should have ended the conversation with "those taste great too". :D

I was actually worried that these nutbars might have actually convinced someone to listen to their BS. Luckily, that wasn't the case and the hunt shall go on. You guys should see some of the idiotic comments these morons are making on a Facebook page. According to them, the spring hunt is a meaningless slaughter of innocent animals where hunters target nursing sows leaving cubs to starve to death.

Good luck! Hope you come across one like this nice looking bruin seen a couple of weeks ago here in NL.

It's been raining all frigging week here and i'm tied up the next two weekends with hockey tournaments. After that, I'm planning on dragging my younger son out for some adventure.

School me because I'm ignorant. I have never tried bear, my dad did and said it was too greasy. Is there a trick to how you cook it? Is just that I wouldn't bother hunting something I wasn't going to eat.

Don't mistake, I never undercut lawful hunting, I just don't see it as my "thing" for the eating reason.

I ate bear that you would be hard pressed to believe it wasn't beef.
I has to be well cooked.
The grease (lard) is superior to pork.
Any toughness or stringiness can be cured with a sharp knife and thin slices just like beef.

And while I am out in BC, I heard there is an election in "Ontariostan" where they will be trying to figure out what you want to hear.
