Hi All,
I wanted to let you know that we will be hosting an introduction to fullbore competitive shooting clinic at the KTSA range in April. The now-firm date is the 5th of April 2009 at 0830.
So what is this all about? Well, many shooters (especially new shooters) with precision rifles, varmint rifles, Law Enforcement and even Target type rifles have contemplated getting involved in "Competition" but really don't have the faintest idea how, where or when to try it. This is definitely for you.
In this clinic we will be spending a couple of hours going over the safety, the etiquette, scoring, and the TYPES of fullbore shooting. We will also tell you about the various organizations that put these matches on and where to find out about them.
The emphasis will be on participation in a mini-match where we will be shooting at actual competition targets that are pulled and scored by target markers after each end every shot. Participants will be coached one-on-one by a highly experienced fullbore shooter. This will be shot at 300M. I am hoping that at the end of the day, you will be as hooked on the sport as I was after my first match, and you will be able to show up for a match and feel confident that you know what to do and how to get started.
I have a web page set up with all the pertinent info. Feb 14th: We still have spaces open
http://www.riflebarrels.ca/html/shooting_clinic.html
We will try and help out with some loaner equipment for those who might not have access, but no guarantees.
In the mean time, here are a few places you can go to learn about the types of fullbore shooting we will cover...

ht tp://www.dcra.ca/welcome.htm
ht tp://www.ktsa.ca
ht tp://www.bcrifle.org
Don't be freaked-out by some of the rifles you'll see on these pages... ours is a "come as you are" party!
Incidentally, F-Class was started in Canada, in fact it was started on the very range on which you will be participating. KTSA is the home of F-Class shooting.
Again, this is an INTRODUCTORY clinic! People new to competition is what this is all about, and you will not find a more enthusiastic, welcoming and inviting group of people than the crowd at KTSA. It is not about "whoever has the most expensive rifle wins".
Please contact me if you have any questions, and I will update this thread as details become available
Cheers!
