range report:

both rifles are using a 1x bushnell trophy T dot sight, says its 3 MOA. back up irons present, but not used. AE223 55gr

Both rifles went through several rapid fire test (6 lar 10 mags, coupled, fired as fast as I can pull the trigger, NEA had this done 3x to it instead of just once so 180 rnds vs 60)

the NEA: went fine, all brass with out at 2 oclock in a nice pile for my buddy to pick up

the Norq:went fine, the bolt hold open doesnt work all the time, brass goes from 2 oclock, to 3, to 4,

both rifles were shot from prone to 100m for tighest group(10shots) for accuracy, and the groups are in inches from the bulls eye, using magazine as rest:
keep in mind this is an unmagnified 3moa red dot ( thats what bushnell says it is... doesnt feel that coarse to me however)

the NEA: my best group, prone, with magazing as the rest, was 2.5" (has to be luck though, was first one, couldnt do it again today) rest were 3-4",

the Norq: best group was 4", rest were 4-5"

for comparison, I used a buddies bushnell ar-10 in .308, longer barrel but same day, same range ect, with his bipod, and scope (30X) and hit bulls eye three times in a row... (1/2 inch group, but I flew the first show 1/2" low, could have all bulet holes touching with this gun at that range)

the "point and click" aim at 100m, 5 different 6" targets, shot twice in order, as fast as I can while being accurate (same shooting position as above)

the nea: I had no problem, widest pair was 4", most less then that, all hit the target

the norq: seems like 5" to 6" groups were the norm, had two on top of each other less then an inch away for one target, but it took me longer to get these shots off as well.

overall

the NEA:the number of features on here, the life time of the barrel (lifetime), and the looks of the NEA are on par with rifles costing much more, and as far as I know NEA is the ONLY one with this angular look, love it or hate it. The barrel performed to what I would expect of a match 7.5 barrel, very accurate. let me state that again, VERY accurate. more accurate then my 14.5" norinco, and the follow up shots come a lot quicker since the shorter barrel has less torque throwing it around. however, what I think makes this gun particularly good, is the lower. I wish I had a good camera, but the front of the magwell has this nice big ### groove and is also 2mm wider on the OD, which besides looking cool, gives great grip, to provide a better grip for people like me who hold it there. Down side is they are selling these faster then they can make them, so you will have to wait a bit to get one. But again, i feel like a grand was a very good deal for the amount of features I got.

the Norq: no absolute failures, nothing really stands out as super good, except price. if money is your number one concern, but you still want an AR, you probably wont regret buying the norinco, its not a bad gun, its just featureless. Ok well, not feature less, you can put a bayonet on it, and the selector is on both sides if your a lefty. I found the handguard or iron front post got in the way of a lot of sights. if you want a rail, low profile gas block, barrel shorter then 10", extra mag well grip, staked castle nut, free floated barrel, then youll have to pay for it down the road. the loose fire selector I wont hold against Norinco, since I have been using it regularly for a year, these things wear out.

***Updated****
final verdict: well both guns now have a good amount of rounds through them, the norqs somewhere around 2300(updated~4k now, no new issues), the NEA is about 1500(updated ~4k now, no new issues), and both have had lord knows how much .22 lr put down them.

reliability:
both the NEA and the norq were reliable, the norq had a couple FTF, the NEA had a loose screw on the low pro gas block, both ran 500 rounds with out cleaning, lube, with no issues, both guns are reliable

accuracy: no contest, my NEA barrel is HALF as long, shot 1" better, and had less snap (ie faster followups) also, LIFETIME warrenty, vs a 6k service life

value: while the Norinco is cheaper, and I am not regretting buying it, I think you get the most value for your money with an NEA. the better quality barrel alone is work a hundred bucks, and things like rails, low profile gas blocks, and free floated barrels, are worth far morre then the 300$ price bump you pay to go from Norinco to NEA. I have shot colt, bushnell, and armalites, and would not hesitate to put NEA in the same catagory.
looks/finish: the Norq looks like any other ar-15, ever, and I dont like the plastic handguard, it had some flashing on it when I bought it that cut my hands a bit till I smoothed it out. the NEA looks unique, they have completly redone all the cuts, looks very unique and blaster like. the handguard is aluminium, and I cannot find a snag anywhere on it.

the norinco edge:
411910_398876566839170_1097392618_o.jpg
can put a bayonet on it. cant do that with the NEA, stock anyways, and I happen to LIKE the classic front post and such when I shoot irons.

the NEA edge: lots of extras for little cost, the barrel is high quality, and the fit is tight. finish is also very good, but most importantly it shoots accurately. It also has the extra grip for those who like to hold the mag well.

what sucks about the norinco
: the front post will get in the way of many optics, as will the hand guard. the castle nut is not staked, constantly comes loose, and will need to be staked to prevent constant re tightening.

what sucks about the NEA:
I did get a heavy trigger with mine, it was well under the serial # that NEA said had shipped with those, new one in the mail within 24hrs, at my door within a few days, but still, tsk tsk and all. I did have to tighten a gas block screw at about 750 rounds or so, 750 rounds later I have not had to re tighten.

Oh wait, it didnt come with a manual,

im sure it still has "better annihilating firepower within 460 m" and can "group active objects"

Stop lying easysauce. Tell the truth. We all know your gas block isn't straight and your charging handle is catching on your castle nut. C'mon stop shilling. :p

it also appears to make baby jesus cry every time I shoot it.

on a side note, although non functional, the happy switch does go all the way (still fires in semi)

not sure that would be nice for anyone but me tho

2bad4u, easy, jdman and shep546 your late for the parade!

<<< See the name? It aint that hard to get it right, genius. ;)

Why would I comment? This "reveiw" is anything but. The guy opened a box and finger fcuked his NEA for a few minutes - big deal. What's there to comment on?

I certainly hope the OP doesn't have and issues with his new purchase. It totally sucks when that happens and it's happend to me (3) times this last year buying new rifles from board sponsors.

I'm not anti-NEA. I'm anything but and have stated that before.

Until you have at least fired the gun with at least 500rds or used one before this count as nothing even close to a credible review of any kind.

On a side not I would prefer NEA dropped the whole $1000 AR thing and just made a rifle that is top quality instead of sourcing other parts from various manufactures to appease the crowd of people that should probably just stick to a NORC instead.

And if it weren't for the myriad of reported problems, an "out-of-the-box impression would be fine. But since you pretty much need to shoot it to find out if there are going to be any issues...

Not denying that. Mine is perfect upon "finger ####ing" it lol. But I reserve final judgment until after my range day next week. We shall see.

I think his #### fell off :(

In other news, I only have an NEA upper (14.5", incl NEA 'import' BCG), but I'm up to 5-600 rounds with no FTF FTE or other irregularities, running it on a Core15 lower.
