So here is my BlackFeather build in progress, finally got around to modifying the tri-rail to fit around the BF's Op-Rod guide....all that's left is to install my CASM mount whenever it arrives and scope it. Really eager to see if there is any improvement to how she shoots. One thing I must admit is that the balance of the rifle in the stock is really nice.

Looks good! What stock is that?

Thanks, its the BlackFeather RS that Frank is selling at M14.CA...it looks a little diff than some of the others because I modified a UTG tri-rail handgaurd that I had lying around to fit with this stock. They almost look like they were made for each other :D

The UTG and blackfeather look great together! Heh I guess I should have been more specific, I was wondering about the buffertube assembly and collapsible stock that's on your Blackfeather system. It's not the usual magpul coolaid.

looks like a CAA
EDIT: I was wrong! owner posted FAB defense below.

Haha gotcha! Should have known that's what you meant. Its a regular milspec AR buffer I had laying around with a FAB Defense collapsible stock (GL-Shock is the model name). I've used the same stock on my CZ858 and was really impressed with it. I have a Magpul ACS-L on my AR and to be honest the quality of the FAB stock is just as good if not better. As a bonus it also has an adjustable cheek riser and a pretty effective recoil reducing shock inside the stock...my dad has one on his Rem 870 and its makes shooting 3" shells a breeze for anyone.

That looks fantastic! I look forward to building fore end rails for Blackfeather. I like your part selection as well. Also, Fabsports is a great place to go, good choice, as Fabrice offers on-demand service, great parts and fast shipping. Good on you Fabrice. Cheers, Frank

Nice! I have my Blackfeather M305 shorty set up with a FAB defense GL-Shock as well. I'm not sure how much of a difference it makes on a .223, but I have certainly noticed a difference with .308 :)

Is the fore-grip bipod FAB as well? How do you like it, I've been considering getting one for my rifle as well.

I really like. It's surprisingly light at under 11 oz and pretty solidly constructed. I believe the manufacturer states that it is rated to support 200 lbs. I remember once seeing a video of one mounted on an AK and the operator standing on top of the handgaurd and bouncing up and down with the bipod deployed...thats what did it for me!

Nice work, any plans for mounting optics ?

As a matter of fact yes...but not on the UTG tri-rail, I just thought it would look cool :D I'm waiting for my CASM mount to show up and mate it with a Bushnell Elite 6500 Series 1.25-8x32. The scope seems perfect for use on my set up. Has 5" of eye relief and its built like a tank. I ordered it for $350 new at Le Baron's a couple of months back which is a crazy good deal considering that the scope is Japanese built and usually retails for $700-$900 in the States!

Beautiful rifle, can you tell me what the rifle weighs as pictured?

Well I just finally finished the build, CASM scope arrived earlier and I just installed and mounted the scope. As is I would say bewteen 10.5-11lbs, about 9.5 without...but it would be just a guess as I don't have a scale at my place. Here are a few pics of what she looks like all finished up.

Actually I was looking at that scope too Xeelee. What do you think of it?

I like the scope quite a bit so far...its built like a tank and super clear. The magnification (1.25-8x) is perfect for a close to intermediate range gun. It's a made in Japan scope and if you can find it for under $400 its a steal. I paid $375 at LeBarons but if you look online most places stateside sell it for between $700-$900. The only thing to keep in mind is the eye relief which is between 5-6". I have it mounted about as far forward is I can and the eye relief is just right...however if one used an integrated forward mount like an AD-Recon of Burris PEPR you could place it in an even more forward position if needed.

Range Report please~! It looks great, but I want to see way more range reports from different people before I splurge on this stock.

Ok here is a Mini range report! The range was super busy today and had a couple of new shooters with so I didn't want to spend too much time sighting in. I did sight in at 50m and was able to shoot 4 1" 5-shot groups off a bag using cheapo Norinco surplus. The rifle itself felt great to shoot, the ergonomics are awesome. After sighting in we shot at a 15x15 steel plate @ 200m and hit it every time without using a bag...just elbow and forearm. I am impressed so far and planning to go out again next week for some longer distance evaluation.
